Chardonnay
Hand picked and whole bunch pressed. The juice was lightly settled overnight and then transferred to a mixture of french oak barriques and puncheons for fermentation 20% of which were new. The wine underwent natural malolactic fermentation in the spring and was racked to tank in February prior to bottling in March.
The nose shows hints of ripe nectarine, mandarin and jasmine with a hint of gunsmoke. On the palate lemon, nectarine and peach fruits layer with toasted oak and brioche. Weighty yet delicate with a long and lingering finish.
Fruit sourced from the clay rich soils of Longfield Farm’s hill block on the edge of the Southern Valleys in Marlborough. The Chardonnay vines are close planted on an east facing slope. Vineyard organically managed, second year Biogro. Vines planted in 2014.
The 2023 vintage turned out to be one of great quality! Early season rain threatened to make it tricky however February and March remained dry and allowed us to pick fruit in prime condition and optimal ripeness levels. Temperatures throughout ripening were moderate and allowed for a longer ripening period giving us fruit with great flavours and concentration. Fruit was hand picked on the 16th of March.

"A rich expression of chardonnay from Marlborough's Southern Valleys, offering aromas of butter, salted lemons and baked apple. The palate is vibrant yet luxurious, layered with glossy stone fruit flavors and a creamy texture that persists through the finish. Despite its intensity, it remains perfectly balanced.
Drink now. Screw cap."
